“Poaching is not just a problem for the animals; however, it’s also a problem for the humans who protect them”.

Wildlife Poaching.

Poaching simply means the illegal trafficking and killing of wildlife. Poaching is not just about the killing of endangered or protected animals but also the unlawful killing of any animal.

Sometimes animals, animal parts and plants are sold as trophies or “folk medicines’’ and sometimes they are sold as pets or houseplants. With more tigers kept captive than living wild, like the rich Arabs adopting tigers, leopards, lions, thereby keeping them away from their natural habitat in the wild.

Poaching animals is very harmful to the ecosystem. It is usually carried out by organized criminals who are only interested in making a profit.

Impact Of Poaching.

  • Wildlife is considered an important resource by many communities, often the developing part of the world. Some rural households depend on wild animals for protein, trees for fuel, and both wild animals and plants for natural cures.
  • Interruption of nature: Overexploitation of species affects the living planet in wider ways. Just as overfishing causes imbalances in the whole marine eco system, our complex web of life on earth depends on careful and thoughtful use of wildlife species and their habitats.
  • Invasive species: Many invasive species have been purposely introduced by wildlife traders or buyers. These invasive species prey on or compete with native species and are a major threat to the balance of nature. For example pet Burmese pythons let loose by their owners are now considered a major pest in Florida’s everglades.
  • Killing of non target species: At times rangers are incidentally killed by poachers, incidental killing of animals also happens on land. For example, crude traps set for musk deer or duikers cause damage and death to a variety of animals besides those intended.
  • Extinction of endangered species: Endangered animals often go extinct because they are being hunted by poachers, therefore reducing the population of these species. As endangered species go extinct, they are taken out of the food-chain. Animal extinction can damage the population of other plants or animals including the ecosystems. Wildlife in Nigeria is gradually getting extinct because little or no attention is being paid to the protection of wildlife.

Anti Poaching.

Anti poaching is the organised act to protect wildlife from poachers. The act of anti-poaching is normally carried out by national parks on public land and by private security companies on privately owned land. Anti-poaching takes many forms and which depends mainly upon the habitat being protected. Typically, it is the act of actively patrolling land in an effort to prevent poachers from reaching the animals.

Wildlife poaching and trafficking are the most noticeable and widespread phenomena that compromise the integrity of biodiversity at the global level. It is a global problem that has been resulting in population decline and local extinctions of some wildlife species. African Elephants, Rhinos and other wildlife species are endangered by poaching and international ivory trade, unfortunately this problem is still very current.

Animals can’t be exploited and threatened, they must be protected and they have the right to live free in their natural habitats. Poaching is a threat not only for elephants and other animals, but for the whole global community.

To tackle poaching is essential to give a strong international response. Starting from local communities in Africa to fight poachers, till the European metropolis to stop trade and sellers. More anti poaching organisations should be formed to fight poachers from hunting wildlife.

Anti Poaching Organisations.

This is an organised group of people dedicated to protecting wildlife and their environment. It is important to protect wildlife and their ecosystem. In Africa, illegal poaching has led to the extinction of wild rhinoceros in Mozambique. Many other regions across the continent have witnessed a drop by 97 percent in rhino populations just over the last 100 years.

A similar story emerges in Asia with tigers, a species that was commonly found across most of the continent. Sadly, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), numbers of these beautiful animals have shrunk so much that they can now be found living on less than 6 percent of their historical range. Anti poaching organisations help to prevent wildlife from extinction by denying poachers access to hunt endangered species.

Anti poaching organizations include:

C.R.O.W: Simply mean Conservation Rangers Operation Worldwide. C.R.O.W. is a registered, non for profit organisation that establishes and trains rangers to set standards in the skills necessary to support, train and supplement anti-poaching and conservation efforts worldwide, especially in high risk areas.

C.R.O.W. have a very well skilled research team made of biologists and conservationists. Their instructors have actual experience on the field as Rangers (since 2007), as well as military and scientific background.

The high demand from Asia fuels the infamous illegal wildlife trade which is destroying the biodiversity of our planet: the Rangers of Africa risk their lives everyday to fight criminal syndicates ruled by merciless businessmen.

A Conservation Ranger is a security operator whose mission is to understand and protect our planet’s biodiversity.

Strategies used by C.R.O.W. to accomplish their mission are:

  1. To prevent further biodiversity loss, by professionalizing anti poaching units (with no impact on the budget of the parks) and providing them the equipment needed.
  2. To change the context, meaning reducing the human wildlife conflicts through education , involving communities and sensitizing people worldwide.

C.R.O.W. personnels are 100% volunteers. 75% of the funds raised are used to provide free professional training and equipment to local Rangers. C.R.O.W. Operates worldwide, especially in high risk areas. To support and donate to C.R.O.W. Kindly visit their website crowngo.org.

Other anti poaching organisations includes,

  • The Black Mamba Anti Poaching Units: This group is mostly female rangers unit founded in 2013 with the purpose of protecting wildlife in South Africa, mainly in the regions of the Balule Nature reserve and the Greater Kruger National Park.
  • International Anti Poaching Foundation: The international anti poaching foundation is a non profit organisation registered in Australia, predominantly operating on the African Continent. Founded in 2009, IAPF has transformed a traditionally adversarial approach to conservation into an innovative, empowering and gender diverse model to protect wildlife and habitats. etc

These anti-poaching organisations generate revenue from donations made by individuals and brands all over the world. Angel Force of Africa is one of the brands that support and donate to anti-poaching organisations.

Angel Force Of Africa: The Angel Force of Africa is a NFT brand formed to generate funds that support anti-poaching organisations and other charity initiatives, globally.

Protecting wildlife is the new found passion of the founder, who plans to travel the world with his art and charity initiatives and hopefully make a difference.

Buying an Angel Force of Africa NFT also means you could be saving an animal, or ranger.
